Harvest Gold Corporation (HVG – TSX.V) June
28, 2006 (the
“Company”) is pleased to announce that diamond drilling of gold targets
on its
Lesavage North property (formerly the Johnston property) in the Rice
Lake Gold
Belt in Manitoba, Canada will commence shortly. A drill rig is being
mobilized
onto the property and drill targets are selected.
The first 8 drill holes will vary from 100 m to 250 m lengths and will
total
approximately 1300 meters on the recently discovered Red Hill gold zone.
The IP
geophysics, just completed over the gold zone, indicates mineralization
may
extend over a strike length of 800 m and to a depth of 300m, the depth
limit of
the survey. The gold discovered at Red Hill is associated with very fine
grained
pyrite and arsenopyrite, which responds well to this survey method. This
drilling will test the strike length and the strongest anomalies
identified at
depth beneath the area where gold mineralization was discovered in the
2005
drill program.
Up to 700m of additional drilling is planned for newly identified
anomalies 1 km
along strike from the Red Hill zone discovery area. Surface geochemical
sampling
of the on-strike anomalous zones has been completed and results are
pending.
Company geologists await confirmation that gold and other pathfinder
elements
accompany the strong chargeability anomaly identified in the IP survey
to
determine the best drill locations.
The Company’s first drill program on the property, in October 2005,
occurred at
the west end of the anomaly. It resulted in the discovery of the Red
Hill gold
zone and reported up to 7.5 g/t Au over 2 metres in one drill hole and
multiple
lower grades intervals of 3.4 g/t gold or less in adjacent holes. (See
January
18, 2006 Press release)
The gold-bearing alteration associated with the gold discovered at the
Red Hill
zone is ankerite (iron-magnesium carbonate) which is found in
association with
many Red Lake gold deposits. Other occurrences of the same type of
alteration
are located within a large fold structure and in a regional shear zone
crossing
through the property. This shear zone is part of a major crustal break
that
extends east through the world-class Red Lake Gold Camp in Ontario 80 km
to the
east.
The Lesavage North property is located adjacent to the provincial
highway and is
20 km east of the newly reopened Rice Lake Gold mine and mill in
Bissett,
Manitoba operated by San Gold Corp (SGR:TSXV).
