Rice Lake
Gold Belt, Manitoba
Gold
Our
exploration goal for the Wyatt claims is the discovery of near surface shear
hosted gold mineralization in the Rice Lake Gold Belt. The Company acquired an 8
km long land package that was staked to cover a new type of gold occurrence
discovered by government geologist undertaking detailed mapping of the area. New
gold occurrences recently uncovered on the adjacent property reported surface
grab samples of up to 156 g/t gold.
Target
The
target is gold-bearing arsenopyrite mineralization in a shear zone.
Location
The
property is situated in the Gem Lake area and is approximately 40 km by gravel
highway from the town of Bissett where there is an operating gold mill. Two
former logging roads cross the property.
History
The
regional shear zone on the property has seen little historical exploration.
Overgrown trenches blasted over a one metre wide quartz vein, outside of the
shear zone contains visible gold. The arsenopyrite mineralization in the shear
zone has not been explored previously. A two week stripping and sampling program
by Wildcat Explorations on the adjacent property discovered a number of
high-grade gold-bearing quartz veins in the shear zone.
Harvest
Gold Corp.'s initial two week program in October 2005 revealed abundant
arsenopyrite and pyritic mineralization in the shear zone on the Wyatt claims.
Geological Setting
The
rocks in this part of the Rice Lake Belt are similar in age to those that host
the San Antonio, Central Manitoba, Beresford Lake and other gold mines. The
mineralization on the two claims occurs in a northerly tending shear zone that
parallels the regional structures hosting high-grade gold deposits in the
Beresford Lake area to the north of the property.
The
mineralized shear on the Lesavage claims cuts through a large folded gabbro and
mafic volcanic rocks; similar rocks are commonly host to high-grade gold
mineralization in this part of the Rice Lake Belt. Gold-bearing arsenopyrite
associated with carbonate and silica alteration is a new type of mineralization
in the Rice Lake Belt and its occurrence on both the Harvest Gold and Wildcat
Explorations portions of the shear zone is quite significant.
The Rice
Lake Belt is an established gold camp with over 1.7 million ounces produced.
The Rice Lake Greenstone Belt is one of the most important gold-producing areas
in Manitoba. The San Antonio mine and mill are expected to reopen in late
2005. It is our belief, based on historical records and recent high-grade gold
mineralization discoveries that the area is under explored and, highly
prospective for gold deposits.
